چکیده

Scenario according to which the SU(2)-gluodynamics is a theory with a nontrivial fixed point is analyzed from the point of view of the modern Monte-Carlo (MC) lattice data. It is found that an assumption of the first order fixed point g = g f of the beta function β f (g) has no contradictions with existing MC lattice data. The beta function parameters are found from the requirement of constant values for critical temperature T c /Λ F P L and string tension √ σ/Λ F P L in MC lattice calculations at 4/g 2 ≥ 2.30.

From an accurate determination of the inter-quark potential, one can study the running coupling constant for a range of R-values and hence estimate the scale Λ MS. Detailed results are presented for SU (3) pure gauge theory from a study of a 36 4 lattice at β = 6.5.

We present results from magnetic monopoles in SU (2) lattice gauge theory at finite temperature. The lattices are 16 3 × N t , for N t = 4, 6, 8, 12, at β = 2.5115. Quantities discussed are: the spacial string tension, Polyakov loops, and the screening of timelike and spacelike magnetic currents.

We consider a fractal Wilson loop < FP > and present physical arguments why this should be a relevant observable in nature. We show for non-compact SU(2) lattice gauge theory in the next to leading order of strong coupling expansion that < FP > obeys an area law behavior and is gauge invariant. PACS index: 11.15.Ha

Static colour sources offer an ideal environment for investigating the confinement mechanism and testing models of low energy QCD. Despite the availability of a wealth of information on fundamental potentials [1,2], only few lattice investigations of forces between sources in higher representations of the gauge group SU(N) exist. Most of these studies have been done in SU(2) gauge theory in thr...

Lattice simulations are presented showing the expectation of the fluctuation of the Wilson loop solely by elements of the center to fully reproduce the SU(3) heavy quark potential. The results are stable under smoothing, and point to thick vortices as being responsible for the full SU(3) tension. An analytic result on the necessary presence of thick vortices for confinement at weak coupling is ...
